need input on my first attempt at mastering
Hey, Im Jon and brand new here. I have been working on a song for a few months and just finished. Although I have recorded several pieces, I have never "mastered" anything before and I need input. As I dont have any friends who know anything, I am hoping to get some help here from some experts.

Here we go again.
Seems like a variation of this story pops up every year or so. Here's the latest installment...

One night to master, and I dont master... help
Hello,
First things first. I have looked for a similar topic, but didn't see any at first glance, but if there is one, let me know.
What do you charge for extra "services"
We get involved in lots of projects that have "extra"* services included with them. Things like going in and picking up a special piece of equipment that we don't have for use in dubbing or taking materials into and picking them up from a duplicator we use. Most of our suppliers are located 35+ miles from our facility so it is a 70 mile round trip and usually last about 1.5 hours.

I feel that I have done a good enough Job but not for vinyl, I need an expert to do that. So where can I find one? Are there companies out there what specialise in mastering peoples work, prepairing it to be pressed onto vinyl? Are you one of these people? PLease assist me because Im having no luck what so ever in finding someone suitable.
Thank you. Regards, Adam.

You have to check this out.
This was unveiled at the AES in New York.
I was a BETA tester.

It is a very nice piece of software and the company has done things right. You can download a demo and I would be interested in hearing from you after you have had a chance to try it.

Just had to relate this one...
A client comes in with a hodge podge of songs on DATs, CDs and reel-to-reel tape. This was after telling me on the phone that he is already for mastering. All of this material is at different sample rates and bit depths and there are 3 to 5 takes of each song. He wants to listen to all the takes before he decides which one to use in the mastering.

A Newbie wants to know why there are 7 numbers in EQ?
Hi I had a question
Boost means to increase the volume
And Cut means to decrease the volume right?
I read a tutorial on EQ from this site and I had a question about what this guy means when:

Troubles with mastering EQ?
I listen to my mixes and have a good setup on my DAW. Mic and Pre etc. when song is exported out, it dosn't have sheen my friend gets with same set up. I have more mud and less clarity.
Can someone give me some basic ground rules (I know they don't always apply) such as should I use a low shelf. Boost in high-end12khz area etc?
