Live Recording Ideas

Forums

Hey guys, so I am with a company that goes out with bands and records their sets to be sold once the show is over. As of right now we are using a MOTU 8 channel pre and that is it. I am looking for a few good ideas (with a limit on budget) that might be able to help boost the signal to a higher level so I dont have to worry about peaking out on my pres to get a good final product.

What do you charge for extra "services"

Forums

We get involved in lots of projects that have "extra"* services included with them. Things like going in and picking up a special piece of equipment that we don't have for use in dubbing or taking materials into and picking them up from a duplicator we use. Most of our suppliers are located 35+ miles from our facility so it is a 70 mile round trip and usually last about 1.5 hours.

Mastering For Vinyl...

Forums

I feel that I have done a good enough Job but not for vinyl, I need an expert to do that. So where can I find one? Are there companies out there what specialise in mastering peoples work, prepairing it to be pressed onto vinyl? Are you one of these people? PLease assist me because Im having no luck what so ever in finding someone suitable.

Thank you. Regards, Adam.

Just had to relate this one...

A client comes in with a hodge podge of songs on DATs, CDs and reel-to-reel tape. This was after telling me on the phone that he is already for mastering. All of this material is at different sample rates and bit depths and there are 3 to 5 takes of each song. He wants to listen to all the takes before he decides which one to use in the mastering.
