ear fatigue
Hey everyone. I'm currently working on a mastering project, and everything's sounding pretty good so far. Before I get too far into it, I wanted to consult with the mastering squad here about ear fatigue.

Basic mastering procedures?
Okay, so... I do some smaller projects, I'm no guru of any sorts except in my own head. Most of the music I record is along the lines of "modern hard rock", for lack of a better term. Radio friendly stuff with a little screamo/yelling.

mastering...
Hello everyone!
I am using this forum for the first time.
I use Nuendo 2 for recording and mixing music for quite some time now. I've come to the point where I would like to start doing some mastering too. What program (or plugin ) do you suggest to use for it?
Thank you,
Janez

Mastering Question
Is there like some way to alter a song digitally so it will sound right on a CD. I mastered a song digitally with Cool Edit Pro 2.1. On a computer it sounds fine. Then I burnt it to a regular Cd-R. it sounded complely different. The highs were higher, the lows were like different and everything. how can I fix this?

Narrowing the stereo field of the low end?
I understand that narrowing the low end is often done when mastering for vinyl, but is this ever used when mastering for CD?
Is it desirable to go mono with frequencies below, say 200hz?
Thanks,
Mark

Info On Old Disc
Hi,
I have just received an old disc for transcription. I reckon it could be 60 years old. It is made from metal and is coated in "vinyl". I only know its metal as the vinyl or whatever material it is, is scratched off in parts.
Can I play this disc on a modern turntable without damaging it?

Mastering Classical Music
I know that there is no real standard for the apparent loudness in popular music mastering (i.e. the loudness wars), but is there any standard in mastering classical music?
