give em a break

no offense to you but if the mastering engineer had dedicated his master to the replication house and 100,000 CD's were pressed later on finding out the pq coding was totally off and the songs had inproper gaps in between, or some problem like that, he cant blame the replication plant for the dedication to his work.

Just had one of my clients CD's mastered and.
Forums
Hey guys, here is a question for all you M.E.'s out there. I just had one of my clients CD's mastered at one of the most reputable places in town. I've used this company several times before BUT this time instead of using the main ME we used another guy that works there now. (he of course was highly recomended) He did a great job at mastering but perhaps too good?

Differences Vinyl vs CD-Mastering
Forums
Hi,
I have to do a mixmaster for a vinyl master.
Where are the main differences?
I guess especially the low frequency range and a limit of -0,7dB
are important.
Is that correct?

Markus :)

I think the instrument I play influences my mastering.

This is just an observation I have made of myself. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this when they are mastering.
Soft Clipping
Forums
Anlybody knows goot Soft Clipping VST plugin ?
Because i had some strange peaks in a mix, maybe drumeer hit side of snare, something like this.
and this prervents me from making it LOUD.
i have f**ked pretty much with MB compressor to find this frequency, but it will affect my mix anyway, so Soft Clipping can helt, but i don't have such plugin :(

Peak level @ 0, -0.1, -0.2 or -0.3dBFS?
Forums
Out of curiosity what do you guys use as standard?
I know (from listening experience and from a TC Electronic paper) that a lot of consumer CD players will additionally clip the signal beyond 0dBFS when D/A'ing and things are so hot.
In which case I suspect -0.3 instead of 0dBFS doesn't make any difference - probably should be at least -3dB or something..
