Shotgun mics in the 300 dollar range.
We need some shotgun mics to record a film. There is a limited budget of about 1g for audio equipment. Can anyone recommend some shotguns that will play well with a purely transistor-based preamp in the 300 dollar range? Thanks for any suggestions.

condenser mic problem!
sorry, I'm quite new to forums, and if this is in the wrong place, i do apologise.
anyway..
i recently bought a condenser mic. (Behringer )
brilliant piece of hardware, however - now when i record music, (usually acoustic) the right channel is about 6dB louder then the left. why is this? 2 weeks back it was fine.
i have dropped it once, is that a cause?

Good stereo mic for acoustic guitar?
Hi
I record songs in a voice and acoustic guitar format (no other instruments). I'm searching for a nice stereo mic (up to about £500/$1000). I've tried the RODE NT4 but the tone wasn't quite there for me.

CAD M177 Microphone?
Can anyone give me some input for this mic? I use it for a vocal mic but I cannot compare to others since its my first mic. I put it through an ART tube and I cant get a good sound from it, but I'm not sure if it is the tube or the mic. If anyone has this microhpone or have used it, feel free to respond.
I am strictly using it for acoustic guitar and vocals.

Yo I just Got The antares Mic Modeler...
I see A lot of mics on here and i was wondering about some of the possible applications of said plugin conjunction with the use of some of the mics below...My intention is to record hip hop vocals and i'm trying to get a clean crisp sound. I was also wondering if I should use a microphone preamp too...

Why is high mic placement often recommended?
Hi All -
I've read any number of times that a good place for live recording mics is up in the air; "the higher the better" was indicated on more than one occasion.
What characterizes the difference in sound between typical ear-level and higher up? What makes it better?
