I doubt this is the type of work that most of you do, but I was wondering if anyone has any tips on Micing a press conference. It's easy enough to take care of the panel, but questions from the press have proven to be bit more difficult. I'm thinking about getting a couple of hanging mics (the kind that are used for choirs). The room is ours, so I can wire it however I want.

Which would you rather go for, they are basically the same price around $400 for a pair?

Any have them or used both?

Will be using them for drum OH's and acoustic instruments.

Audio-Technica AT 4033 -> Focusrite TrakMaster Pro Channel Strip -> mbox 1 PT 7.3.1

I heard the 4033 into the trakmaster pro is a good combo. Anyone disagree. Please give me some insight on other options. Or should I just save up for the big dawgs. For the price (bang for your buck)

Has anyone here used DPA 4041s for recording?

I'm particularly interested to get opinions from anyone who has used them in AB to record orchestras, choirs, etc. But any user experience will be welcome.

My church group will be playing at a college gym with 1000+ people in attendance. I would like to get a "good" recording of our performances but have limited equipment and an even more limited budget. I have 2 Beheringer C-2 Condensor mics, and Alesis 8 track mixer and my laptop with firewire interface box running cubase.

First off, I'd like to state that I am completely new to this and I will be asking many stupid questions from here on in, but I look forward to learning all i can about recording.

I realize there are no rules, but what is a standard distance one should be away from the mic or pop filter?

How far should the pop filter be away from the mic?

How far should a singers mouth be away from the pop filter?
