Hello everybody,

I just got this setup the other day mainly to record french horn in a mix and alone for practicing.
I guess I just assumed I would plug it in and there would be a slider on the mixer that I could control the gain with and if it was too hot I would turn it down until it is just right.

Any one know of any good books or websites to learn about microphone placement and other techniques ?

I have recently come across something. I have recently made my own "experimental" mics and one is very good at picking up high and mid frequencies and the other (being of large diaphragm make) picks up the lower frequencies. Individually these mics would be terrible at Micing the bass drums, however, I placed the both mics in the bass drums and it produces an excepional sound.

Hi - I'm looking at putting an MS pair together and have pretty much narrowed the field down to some Gefells since the Schoeps/ Sennheisers/Royers everyone speaks so highly of are significantly out of my Aussie dollar budget.

From what I've learned from browsing these forums and talking to people who know more than me about the subject, I've deciCDed to go with these mics for recording a standard drum setup into a Firepod:
2 RODE s NT3
a Beta 52A
and if I can streth my budget enough a SM57.

I am about to invest in some Studio equipment and microphones. I have a good buget .I am searching for a microphone suitable for violin and other string instrumnets.CAN ANYone help or advice on a mic that will do that job? :roll: thankyou again.

What I am doing right now is creating a live set which shall be pre setup as I am using a digital desk and a sequencer as well as loads of live instruments. Therefore I am pre mixing for a live situation.

I'm looking for a mic that travels well and isn't big. All-purpose- because I'm going to use it to record street preformers, it shouldn't pickup backround noise too easily. Any suggestions?
