Microphone Reviews, Opinions Needed
Hey-
I am trying to start a "community" web site geared strictly towards the review of various studio, stage, and other microphones. This web site should be very useful because it will be honest opinions and not someone trying to sell you something... although I WILL be advertisign on the site. If you have strong opinions on any type of microphones... post them here...

RODE NTK mic with replaced TUBE (NOS) - mp3 examples here!
Hi
I own a RODE NTK mic, and am not that happy with the sound. It's brittle, and not very focused.
I would love to get a better mic, but the budget is a little restrictive. So instead, I ordered a replacement tube for the mic, in the hope that I could improve the sound.
The tube I chose was a NOS Philips E88CC/6922 SQ from Holland.
mic for a martin
I have a Martin HD28 (the scalloped bracing means more low end than the D28), and a Shure KSM 27 for recording voice and guitar simultaneously.

Electro-Harmonix 12AY7 Tube Microphone Preamp
Anyone use this? How does it compare to the SP VTB-1 or the Brick?
What do you think of the BULE series of microphones
I just purchased a BLUE Bluebird microphone for a gig I did over the weekend and was very impressed by this microphone. Any others used the BLUE series and have any thoughts on them? I found this particular microphone to have a very open, very neutral, very pleasing quality. I was using it to record a soprano in a soprano/piano recording session. The piano was recorded with two AT-4051s.
New Vocal Mic (MG, Soundelux)
Ok I STILL can't figure out what I want (no way to test mics here in the middle of nowhere). I use a 414 uls through a 428 with a distressor as my vocal chain and it works pretty good. I want to step it up with a better mic as I have read the 414 is not really a superb vocal mic. I am looking at something from Geffell, because all I have read says their great.

Ribbon mic & sibilance question
Hi,
I've heard that ribbon mics are less prone to sibilance than, say, condensers. But is that just because they just have less top end?
If so, I guess this wouldn't solve a sibilance problem, because on boosting the high frequencies to get a desirable tone, wouldn't the sibilance return?
