Piano mic placement
i've looked all over the site, but i couldn't find any threads that focused specifically on mic placement. I have a 5' grand piano that i need recorded. i will soon have 2 AKG c1000 s and i already have a few dynamic mics.
i know mic placement should be wherever i think sounds better, but i just need somewhere to start.
thanks
matt

Micing a Leslie
Hey guys! I've got access to a Hammond B3 and Leslie speaker at my church. In the near future, I would like to do some recordings of it. Does anyone have a tried and true technique for Micing it?
Thanks in advance.

I'm currently doing research in Audio DSP. Theres a certain project that I wanted to start working on which would end up as a plugin . I wanted to ask you guys how useful you think that such a plugin would be. I really want to get the opinions of recording engineers.

vocal mic $1000-$2000
Looking for any suggestions. Will be going through Avalon 737. Used for primarily rock, male and female vocals, but other music types are also possible.
Thanks, Jake

CAD or RODE mics?
If you have used any of the CAD studio mic range I would love to hear what you thought of them, particularly the M9 and the M179. Are they better than RODE Classic II and the NTK?

Budget Mic Shopping?
I was at one of my local dealers today having a bit of a shop around for some Mics that would not break the bank. I wanted to find a few different Mics for different situations but I realy am on a tight budget. I have to be so tight infact, that when I fart only Dogs will be able to hear it ! This is what we came up with. Prices are un-negotiated at this point.

Vocal Mic for under $1000
Is there a descent vocal Mic which sounds relatively uncoloured for under $1000. Something that will suit both Male and female vocals. I have been looking at the CAD M19 and the RODE NTK but I am still not sold on either of them.
