IMPEDENCE OF OLD Mics
I have two Elvis mics Shure 55C and 55b and Voice Box. I can not get enough gain out of them for thelife of me. the 55C is 100.000 ohms. Should I get some sort of impedence converter? How does this work?

Any Lawson Mic users ?
I'm curious about the Lawsom mics. I never hear the name dropped, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Anyone using them ?
Which one and for what ?
Thanks, Kirk

New dirt-cheap tube mic from Marshall: MXL V69
Some of you might have noticed Marshall had a newer mic out not long ago named the MXL V69, a tube mic listing at $399 and being sold by some for under $300. The official Marshall web site had some incredible (literally) specs for the thing, include single digit self noise. Such incredulity was bluntly expressed on RAP not long ago.
Patching Mic lines?
I've gotten some new preamps, and I'm worndering how best to set things up for convenience.
I have a 24 channel snake from the studio to the control room. My console's XLR inpts are hardwired to the on board pres, and separate multipin cables feed the 2 line inputs on each channel.

Sony C800G Tube Mic
Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with this mic. I primarily record female Pop vocals and was wondering if this mic could stand up to mics like a Soundelux 251, U99, or other higher end mics. Thanks in advance.

Can clipping harm condensor mics?
Went and tried the km184 on bass drum. One take was six minutes of nothing but clips. Could I have damaged the mic?

Temperature effect on mic frequency response?
Is it possible that mic frequency response can vary with the temperature of the microphone? I recently used two Shure KSM-32 mics, that had been inadvertently stored at around 50 degrees F, to record a grand piano. These mics are generally pretty useful for the piano but the results in this case seemed better than usual.
