Mic/pre---need flattery not accuracy!
I need to close mic to reduce room and hard drive noise. I have a sm57 going into my akai dps16 and that is not a good match for the built in preamps. only need male vocals as everything else goes direct. Singer(me) needs all the help he can get. Should I:
Get a meek vcq1 for the 57-- is this a good combo for vocals?

Sanken microphones
Hi all
Last saturday I did a FOH job in a theatre for a well known jazz band.
They had rented a number of small Sanken microphones, I guess CU31 or 32 as I found out from the sanken website http://rtg.ch/sanken.htm and IMO they did a very good job on grand piano, clarinets and drum OH's.

MOTU Micro Express Install
Trying to get a Micro Express that I recently bought 2nd hand set up on my computer. It's the serial port connection version and I think that I need to change something in the device manager allowing the new device to utilize the port. I may also be terribly wrong! I've been getting messages relating to the device as follows...

Neumann TLM 103
Hi.
I am thinking of buying a Neumann TLM 103 condenser,I am very happy with my RøDE NT 1 for vocals but I need something better to get my nylon acoustic guitar (solos, classical stuff, brazillian music etc...) .
I have a cheapo mic preamp(Behringer Ultragainer) but it works fine for my bedroom studio:

Anyone used the Pearl 8-ck mic?
Hi,
has anyone of you vintage mic junkies used
the Pearl 8-ck? It's a swedish LD tube condenser
with a square diafragm, made sometime in the
early sixites. I can possibly buy one, but
I can probably not audition it beforehand...
Tankful for any input!

Micing a guitar-combo
Hi :-)
I'm tired of using my standard-Micing for guitar-recordings. How do you mic an amp...espacially Combos like an VOX AC30 or Fender Twin...etc.
What mic's do you use? What techniques you prefer ? Tell me your tricks in Micing an amp !
Best regards :-)

MOTU micro express
I just bought a used micro express. It came with a floppy for the drivers but I don't believe the interface software was included. Can anyone guide me to a place where I might get it off the net? I tried the MOTU web page but only found the drivers which I already have...
muchos gracias
