Suggestions for inexepensive drum overhead mics
So; I have around $300-400 that I can spend on purchasing some drum overheads for my home studio. I'd like to replace the cheap MXL 603's that I've been using with, I guess, "less" cheap ones. I've been reading some interesting things on different sites about the Avantone CK-1's and the Kel KM-1's.

Microphones: Basic Understanding Of The Different TYpes
I wrote a tutorial on the basics of microphones that covers quite a bit on the different categories, what they are and what they are generally used for. There is also a section on polarity patterns, powering options and other related things. Hopefully it can help some people that may have questions regarding mics, their uses and what type to choose in any given application.

Reducing spl into lavalier mic
Looking to reduce the level of sound into a lavalier mic by physical means, NOT via an audio pad.
It's an EBay bought iPhone mic which is very sensitive, good quality but the capsule is easily overloaded. Figured that some sort of physical barrier would be best. Appreciate any ideas.
Thanks

Need help: Drum recording with condenser mics
Hello experts,
Im new to the world of drum recording and wondering about whether or not to keep using condenser mics. I find them brighter and more sensible to transients, hence picking up a cleaner sound, but when I use a lot of condensers together the madness begins. Bleeds mostly. Which make editing near to impossible.
Connecting E.Gtr via DI box into mixer: Mic vs. Line input?
Greetings all,
If I have to plug my guitar direct into a mixer during a live gig through a direct box, what is the difference when connecting the other end into the mic input vs the line input of the mixer? Is it better going into the mic input, if so, why?
Thanks for any advice!
