i really like the Apogee Duet 2. i think it has the least feature for what i need and is potentially the most bang for the buck in my prioce range of around 600 - 800 as long as it isn't loaded with crap I'm never ever gona use, i sing, and play acoustic, and do multitrackin, on the fly i wouldnt want more than 2 or 3 inputs. dont need any crazy features.

I'm relatively new to recording, and have been looking to purchase a microphone for less than $500 new which would enable me to make quality recordings of Pipe Organ s in the cathedrals of Europe.

..I am not speaking of design here, but of wear: is there anything in a cable that 'wears out' or decays? I understand that contacts need to be cleaned, but am wondering if some of my cables (that are as much as 40 years old) are as good as they ever were? I don't hear a problem, but am simply wondering what consensus there might be here at the forum.

So, I decided to replace the ribbon in my matched pair of Cascade Fatheads with 2.5u foil. The good news is that they both sound immeasurably better than they did. The bad news is that they sound subtly different, which is not good as they are meant to be a matched pair.

I've been recording a set of congas with 2 matched dynamic mics X-Y and then a 3rd PZM mic 5 feet away mounted on a wall.

When I listen to the X-Y pair they sound fine. When I listen to the PZM room mic it sounds fine.

Hey guys I want to start getting into recording vocals, but I want to start off with a Mic in the 200-250$ price range to get my feet wet. Is the MXL 3000 a good condenser mic ? Thanks!

Any recommendations?
