Which Microphone and 'XLR to USB' for Vocals and Podcasting?

Hello,

I'm doing some research on microphones for vocals and podcasting.

What would you recommend as a good starter kit for around ~100.
I will also consider things 'over budget' as well.

For now, I'm looking at things with a usb interface so I can use it immediately without extra gear.
The Audio-Technica AT2020 seems to do the job.

Low Response from Microphone

I just bought a PreSonus firestudio project interface and and at4050 condensor mic. I am running Logic, when I record through the mic I am not getting enough volume, or strong enough signal I should say. I am planning on buying a separate preamp to help boost the mic but the interface has preamps built in that should give enough boost to record, right?

Neumann U87i vs. U87ai comparison

I found this interesting and entertaining so here ya go. It was pretty hard to hear the subtle detail on a youtube but to me they sounded close but the ai was sightly brighter. Interesting to hear how everyone hears things different. I like the fact they had a women's ears in this too. Women tend to be less tolerant to upper mids and she chose the ai.

studio monitors, and condenser mic

Okay I've gotten most of my setup complete. ill be using logic on my macbook pro with a persons fire studio firewire interface since it already also has a good preamp. whats a good set of studio monitors for my limit is 400$ and i was looking at the MXL 3000 microphone. also are the stock cables good or do i want to get the hdmi firewire cable for my interface?
