Looking for workhorse condenser mic/preamp combination for project studio
I am trying to find a good condenser microphone and tube preamp combination for my project studio. I am looking in the $1000-2000 range to start but may go higher if needed.
I am currently using logic with a PreSonus interface.
Low End microphone suggestions for CLASSICAL music
I'm a classical composer and I'm putting together my own recording setup to archive my own works. The recordings do not need to be "professional level" -- this is for my own personal portfolio, not for any kind of wide distribution. I don't have a ton of money to budget, I was thinking maybe $300-400USD total for 2 mics that I could use for simple stereo recording.

Motown mics
Hey guys I'm trying to get that old Motown sound, similar to what Daptone Studios are doing these days. What mics would you guys use on the different instruments to get that type of sound? Drums, guitar amps, bass amps, horns etc?

How do you record bass using a passive DI box + a mic?
Hey guys I'm wondering how to record bass using a passive DI box and a mic so that I can have 2 signals going into Pro Tools. I've never recorded with two signals before so I'm not real clear on how to hook everything up.
I'm using an Mbox with two inputs. So for one signal I go from the mic to the Mbox right?

Gooseneck microphones
Hi,
Does anyone have experience using long gooseneck microphones that sit on a moveable base?
I was considering one of the following:
Shure MX412
AKG CGN 521
Sennheiser MZH 3072
I am assuming all of the above are optimised to reduce pick-up due to vibrations etc.?
