In the past I've made some fairly lukewarm comments about the FMR RNP ("really nice preamp") which I have owned since pretty early in my recording career. Well, I've poked around with it a lot recently and have a lot more respect for now.

I managed to record things once or twice from my keyboard.

However, in Ableton 6, in preferences, when I set the audio input device to "Line (Fast Track) DX" or "Line (Fast Track) Wave" (whats the difference?),,,it says "Failed to open the audio input device"...

Its frustrating because I know I've recorded before, and now its not working anymore!

What Pro Tools set up should I get for my 2009 17'' Macbook Pro 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, 500 Gig 7200 RPM. I have Cubase 4 now, but want to move to Pro Tools. Should I get Pro Tools LE, or another version. Also, what hardware interface should I look at getting. Any suggestions would help me out! Thanks a lot!

I currently own the Sony MDR-EX700LP earphones but I was wondering since they are top of the line from Sony can I use these for studio use? I thought that since these are high-endearbuds that they will play exactly how the music is recorded. They normaly cost $300 but I got them for $200 on Amazon.com

OK, so I figured that since I have it on my computer I might as well make use of it. I accidentally deleted the 'license control center' that came with the program because I didn't know what it was. I thought it was spyware or something. Apparently I needed the info there because it contained the key to registering Cubase.

New computer that Vision DAW is building for me to run SONAR 8. I've heard so many conflicting (and assertive) opinions about which OS I should be using, I am confused. Thoughts, opinions, advice please?

Hi - I am trying to find an interface that will allow me to record 2-4 channels with a few effects, without too much latency. I had an Audigy 2 which was failing - if I threw a few Guitar Rig effects on and there was not much room before I had to bump the latency up to avoid underruns.
