To build a whole studio with the 12 channel Tree Audio 500 by Inward Connections, as the console?

or would it be smarter to go the lunch box route, using only the 500 series modules for select jobs?

stuffed obviously with the finest API and Averill pre's and such...

I'm looking to start a collection, I'm just wondering how far I should take it?

Does this DAW allow you to incorporate your own instruments?

And if so what do i need in order to do that?

Another pro tools m-powered question. I have a MacBook with Pro Tools installed on it. But if i want to start a new project it says that my HD is not a valid playback or record volume. I checked Digidesign website and my HD was formated the way it should be Extended (Journaled). It will not allow me to set my volume on Record or Playback in the Workspace menu either.

Pros and cons for either?

Having been disabused of the notion that setting levels means just turning it up until the red light comes on and then turning it back down a little, I am at a loss as to how to translate the little green bar in GarageBand into the actual -12 to -6dB (maximum) peaks that I hear so much of on this board and elsewhere.

After my mix is complete, should I export to a stereo WAV file, and then load that back into Cubase or another program for mastering, or just add the master effects to my mix, and export the whole thing in one shot?
Are there advantages or disadvantages to either method?

Okay so I know its sacrilegious to many a engineer here, but I've become a believer in midi instruments... Sorry Logic Studio won me over with its Indie Kit. So I'm planning on expanding my library. I've been looking at the drum software out there and was wondering if anyone has some hands on knowledge of a few of them. My decision is between Ocean Way Platinum and Mixosaurus Kit.

What do you guys add or cut to the reverb bus regarding eq?

I have to say I'm REALLY used to the Sonar environment and its functions. my question is if there's any version in particular I should look for to upgrade to a newer one, of course. 7? 8?

also, and most importantly, would I be able to open my old Sonar 3 files from any newer version? maybe import them?

What is your opinion of the Compression/EQ plugs that come stock with Logic? How do they compare with others, free and pay. Which ones do you tend to use for certain applications? Why?
