Is Pro Tools suitable for home recording?

Hi all i'm looking to upgrade my home recording studio. I currently use a Boss Br900CD but i find using it to its full abilities it still sounds amateurish and the programmed drums are too monotonous. Is pro tools good? I have a windows xp so i can only use up to edition 7. What hardware do i need to get for pro tools 7 and what price am i looking at. Also is pro tools an industry standard?.

Getting that deep, pro bass sound

I'm delving into mixing some multitrack live recordings of my rock band. I'm Micing a Bergantino 12" cabinet with a Beta 52A, and taking a direct off the bass player's 5-string Modulus bass.

How do you pros manage to get that deep, solid bass tone that you hear at a live concert, or on a good studio recording? EQ? Compression? It's proving elusive to me.

Multitrack recording with Cubase le4

I recently purchased 2 condenser mics and an sm57 to record my bands drumset with. The 3 mics work great, but I'm still looking for a mic to record the kick drum with. I put the two overheads (condensers) up and the 57 on the snare, and the kickdrum barely picks up. Along with that, i want to have multiple tracks recording each individual mic on cubase.
