I'm looking to get off my vs-880ex and onto a computer based DAW. I have preamps and outboard gear just need a good ada converter. I was wondering what people would recommend under a grand. I would prefer to use firewire for portability's sake.

Recently I've become interested in Wavelab. I know there are two Wavelabs, one of which is from CCRMA at Stanford University. The one I'm talking about is the commercial product.

So I bought the elam251 clone. Used it with a female singer. She liked it. I liked it. As I at a couple of pattern-steps towards omni from cardiod, her chest opened up, and all this huskyness came out and it was beautiful.

Assuming that comping and most garbage cleanup is already done, is a full day a standard amount of time to spend mixing a song?

How long does a normal pro engineer spend mixing a song?

Does software based mastering compare well to hardware based mastering with devices like the TC Electronic Finalizer or the Focusrite MixMaster or the Drawmer DC2476?

Does anyone own any of these hardware devices?

Ok, after asking some questions around here I think I've decided what the basic guts of the imminent DAW build should be. Near as I can tell, this oughta at least function...

hey guys, i am using the vst plugin amplitube le, and I arm the track and press the monitor button and set the effect the way i want it, and it sounds great live. but when i try to record it, the playback sounds different, and undesirable. in order to hear the audio playing back, i have to depress the monitor button. Is something not routed properly?

I am looking for a good quality delay unit. That does just delay.
Which one is the best?

I'm thinking about trying to get a Tascam 388. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they good machines? Does the mixer section sound good? Does anyone have one they want to sell? Thanks!
