Don't hear much talk about the Jensen Twin Servo around here. Mercenary's description says it is the best mic preamp ever made, for what that is worth. Anyone use one? I am curious if anyone has done a comparison to the SCA J99 preamp, which is basically a clone for the most part.

I've not had to do this much at all, really only once. Did it just fine, but now I can't seem to get it right...

First, I need to make sure all puch ins are merged (can't remember if it does this automatically or not)

Here's the steps I performed:

1- Select all
2- Locate L
3- Range tool (highlights all tracks to blue on my screen)
4- Bounce

I'm putting together a recording studio to record drums for the most part (so I need 8 mic preamps at least), and I've pretty much decided that I'm going with the Mackie Onyx 1620 (about $700 US) as mixer, along with the M-Audio Firewire 1814 (about $430) as digital interface. Of course I'll need mics etc but I think I'm straight in that area.

I've been hired to do an ongoing project. It's location recording of storyrtelling for a series of videos. I record them telling their tragic life stories, then a slideshow-like video is added later. I've done a couple already using my mbox and an NT2A, and while it has worked fine, Id really like an inline compressor, and a better pre wouldn't hurt.

I'm thinking of building some main monitors to replace my Tannoy DMT 15 MkII's. I've looked into ATC's P4 monoblock amplifier and crossover but it weighs in at £4500 (roughly $8100) and of course I'd need 2 so I've been thinking of a cheaper solution using some of the kit I have already.

Im lookin forward to get new monitors, budget=$1000, no more than that.

Its hard for me to choose between these. Please give me some advice if anyone has experienced any of these.

So what is the best way in terms of books and stuff?

I picked up a Sennheiser MD 412 LM and MD 402 k in a junk store for $10.00 They are in fantastic shape, but what are they good for? There is no info available on the net.

If anyone here has one, please let me know what you use them for. They look like they were made in the '70's.
