anyone running Pro Tools LE on an ibook?

Hey, I've been looking to buy a new mac laptop for recording with Pro Tools HD via a digi 002r. The powerbook that I would need with 1 GB ram is $2100 new whereas a ibook with 768 MB ram is $1450. This would save me a signifigant about of money but I'd first like to know how well this would run, so I'm asking for some feedback from anyone running Pro Tools LE on an ibook.

Crossovers

Can someone tell me if the BBE Max-X3 can do bandpass midbass from approx 100-400 hz? It would appear from the pictuers I've seen of the front panel that it would be able to.

Also, could someone possibly recommend another crossover, that can do this (bandpass 100-400 approx) with adjustable slopes?

Thanks.

Request Help: Symetrix TI-101 Phone Patch integration/usage

Hope I am posting this in the correct forum...

I'm trying to get a Symetrix TI-101 phone patch working. My biggest problem...

I use a line splitter to take the phone line into the Symetrix. The other side of the splitter goes to the telephone. To open the phone line, I have to take the handset off the telephone base.

Dithering in Samplitude

I made a recording yesterday using Sonar (mainly because I'm familiar enough with it to know what to do when it crashes mid-concert!).

I moved it into Samplitude for further processing, and was very pleased with the sound. When I put it on CD most of the detail was retained quite well, but there seemed to be a certain harshness on the sibilants that wasn't on the original recording.

Dilemma...more gear or Moulton Labs Golden Ears?

I've come to the point that I think it might be pointless for me to keep spending money on gear, and not enough time on training my ears.

I was going to buy another low price preamp (VTB-1) or Moulton Labs Golden Ears. I'm thinking that being able to use my ears more effectively will be the better buy. What do you think?

Has anyone tried out the Golden Ears product?
