Good news is, its time for new speakers!

Just got a new iBook--Audacity questions
I installed my Tascam US-122, but it's only showing up as a standard USB device. I don't know how I can get this thing to show up as a high speed device. Also, when I use Audacity, I have to record in stereo or the recording is really choppy. It only records a little blip every second or so when recording mono. Garageband seems to be working, but I'd rather use Audacity.

Group Buys?
I was wondering, does anyone host any group buys on this forum? Is it allowed? Is anyone interested? Do you think any vendor would be up for it?
I could talk to my rep at Sweetwater and see if we could get a price break on a nice mic or something. Do you think it'll work?
So many questions, so little time.

Replacing drivers
I have a pair of the old Peavey Studio mointors that I have used for years and I actually like them alot. The surrounds on the woofers have crumbled and the speakers are rattling. Peavey wants over $75 each to replace the drivers...are there good sounding 8 " replacement drivers that don;t cost more than the speakers themselves are worth?

Buzz Audio ARC
Does anyone have experience with this pre?
A search on the net found some wonderful things said about its' relatives (i.e. the mic preamp section of it) putting the sound in a class with GML and DACS.
Can anyone agree or disagree here?
Thanks
omaru

Alesis Fireport
Anyone out there have the FST Connect software for a Mac? I purchased a Fireport on Ebay and the disk only has the PC drivers. If anyone could e-mail or FTP me the correct software I'd be extremely grateful!

Retooling an old Altec 1567 ?
So I apparently won the pre-amp lottery. I scored an Altec Lansing 1567A, 4 into 1 preamp, long ago in a garage sale for $5. As it turns out, unbeknownst to me, some are saying it's a great sounding pre. It's all hand wired, decades old, and sports a bunch of 12AX7's in the back of it.

Rewiring H&H S-500D
Does anyone have a manual for one of these babies? Or even access to a unit wired for the US (120V)? Here's my dilemma, I'm a relatively recent arrival to this country (from the UK), and I brought my trusty old power amp with me, but somehow in the move I have managed to misplace the manual, so I am unsure how to wire it for 120V (it's set for 240V it's old home voltage).
