OK...I gotta ask this question...is it worth upgrading from Cubase SX to NU2? I know that NU2 has some cool new features (delay compensation throughout, for example)...but will I really gain any HUGE benefit? They are offerring a "loyalty" upgrade price of $699 to go to Nuendo 2.0.

Hello all! I just had a conversation this weekend at a club gig I do the sound for. This guy sugessted that I should sell my ADATs, and get Pro Tools. Mainly because it is "industry standard". I have no disagreeance that Pro Tools is an excellent program, but I am not sure if it is a wise investment right now.

I get 6db of extra noise when I add a compressor (dbx 266XL) to my input chain. Thanx in advance.

I'll soon be looking to ditch my current console (32 channel Ghost) and spend around £20,000 on a new one. At the moment I am considering the Audient or the D+R Orion, but I am also considering a Sony DMXR100.

I am in the process of setting up my first ever DAW. I have a single processor G4 933mhz.

can anyone recommened a good "Basics of Recording" book? I just need something that will cover basic tips and stuff that i'm sure is obvious to and known by every engineer in the world but not me because of my lack of hands on experience.
