Firewire or USB hard drive for recording

Hi all. I've used Logic 7.0, with a PowerBook G4 1.33 Ghz (1.25 Gb RAM) for the past two+ years to do some simple recording, usually 1 - 2 tracks at a time, maybe a total of 10 -12 tracks when complete. I've used an external firewire hard drive (Lacie 7200 rpm, 250 Gb) with no problems. I've used both USB (Lexicon) and Firewire (Firepod) audio interfaces.

sound quality home recording

hello to everyone I am a local baltimore artist interested in improving the sound quality of my music. I have a closet studio. I am most interested in knowing how to get the hissing or the air out of my voice recording. I use a sterling audio mic I think its a phantom series. I dont have any studio monitors just basic I guess computer stereos and I dont know anything about amps.

Laptop Static/Noise Problem

I just got the M-Audio Firewire Solo box today and it works great on my desktop but on my laptop while the laptop is plugged in it gives off this noise/static. I think it might be a ground loop isolation problem and i have a ground loop isolator from Radioshack but its for RCA connections. I'm thinking I might need a power conditioner. Any ideas?

Help with Monitor Manangement systems

We're taking a big step in our studio and getting rid of our "not so useful" big audio console. I'm open to any and all advice about this move. We're mainly recording and mixing in the box and we're thinking of going with a nice 16x2 analog summing amp (i.e., the Mixdream XP) and a high-endmonitoring system (i.e., Dangerous Music Monitor ST).
