I've been looking at getting into synth now for quite some time now and recently it has become possible for me to afford one. Although I've tried to do as much research as I can I feel the only way to really be able to recommend something like this is too have a past experience since I do not have a very good idea on how these operate. So thats what brought me here.

Ok to start, let me list my current system stats:
1. 5 Harddrives
2. 4GB of DDR2 Ram
3. Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 processor
4. Running Win XP 32
5. Using the Mackie Onyx 1220 w/ Firewire Interface
6. Native DAW = Nuendo

so this Friday i will be recording one for the first time.
so far my plan of attack is to record her sitting down in a live room with a large dio condenser off axis about 3 feet above her.

Getting a weired ossilation from computer thru my RME via the fire wire connection
When I unplug the the Firewire cable its gone. this also happens thru the onboard sound card(when hooked up.) you can hear my mouse move or even when a page is loading, and even on start up.. any thought?

Hello. I'm wanting to know a few quick tips on using the midi piano roll in pro-tools. I understand the basics, I've been using sequencers for years but this one just seems really clunky. I feel that there are guidlines I should know before deeming it so quickly. Afterall it's currently the only midi environment I own.

Is it possible to connect a Focusrite octopre directly to a macbook? I already have a digi002 and will be able to use them together via the ADAT, but will I be able to connect the octopre directly to the mac book. I realize i won't be able to do it with Protools. I have logic express and GB on the macbook.

Hi, I have a couple Adats and 1 inch tape i need transfered to digital format. I've searched locally with no luck. Is there anyone here that could do this or can refer me to someone? Would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks

I got my self a logitech marble trackball today. My first expreience with TB's... Im not too sure.. it seems my fingers are gonna a need a while getting used to working precisely..

I also miss the scroll wheel a lot...

I assume a few ppl. here would use trackballs with their DAW's... Was looking for opinions.

Also, the logitech was my only option.

My apologies in advance for my first post being so lengthy, but my old recording haunts seem to have grown inactive.

I am a member of Southern Gospel Trio and we use tracks for performance. Right now were using minidisc but are considering upgrading to something hard drive. I have seen many groups using a (pardon my ignorance) a white, table top, apparently hard drive audio player with a remote. Could someone educate me as to what this might be? Also, any suggestions for something better than minidisc?
