So what's "warm" (if not an SM 58)

For some reason, tonight I'm getting impatient with all of the "wine-tasting" words that we use. In another thread, someone wants a sub $300 condenser vocal mic that is "warm." So what does "warm" really mean? The term gets used all the time, but the definition kind of moves all over the place. I think of a mic that is strong in the octaves between 500-2K and rolls off a bit after that.

Help! Thin Guitar Recordings

I have been struggling to record a decent guitar sound to accompany a rather good drum and bass sound my band has put together.

Some problems we have encountered are:
Thin/very static-y/fuzzy guitar recordings eventhough the room sound sounds smooth/warm.

or, very muffled, unclear and unpresent recordings that sound equally as awful.

Sony CD Architect: Yes or no?

I really, really don't want a truckload of features. All I want is something with decent compression and eq and hp filter, and ability to print a Red Book CD. I am not going to do fancy stuff; it'll be seeing tracks that are pretty much done.

But I do want an app that sounds good and won't be crashing all the time and whose instructions are actually correct and complete.
