Getting rid of the "squeal"

I'm working on some recording for a Christmas project, and I'm pretty new to the whole producing thing. I'm really struggling with a trumpet sound (MIDI) where I want it to be loud, but when the volume is turned up it gets--on the high frequencies-- really "squealy", if you know what I mean--just really unpleasant to listen to.

finished recording my first song, critiques appreciated...

Hi. I posted here about advice in trying to do my first recording earlier... and I understand this probably should go in the home recording section, but I'm all finished now after 3 long days and it would be great to get some professional critiques.

I need a screamer...anyone wanna sing?

I just threw a few riffs together and I want to hear this with vocals. These are scratch tracks with roughly programmed drums. It will be tightened up, but for now I just want a rough idea of where the vocals can go. After that I'll add the intro, keeper guitars/bass, drum fills, etc. This is a skeleton right now.

Anyone want to scream?

Jazz Bass pickup hum

My recording engineer wants me to up-grade my single coil pickups on my Fender Jazz Bass to eliminate the hum.
In reserching the problem, I've found that these two stock single coil pickups should cancel the hum themselves by design.
How do I check the polarity of these pickups to see if they are installed correctly?
Are there any other tips for eliminating the hum?

P.A. speaker set-up

Hello! I was wondering if I could get some advice on the best placement for P.A. speakers in a club that holds roughly 150 people. The 'stage' is set to the corner, facing the audience roughly at a 45 degree angle. I am using four berringer 300 watt P.A.'s driven by a phonic powerpod 1060. I actually have two of these, but for the size of the room I believed that would be over-kill.

SSL Alpha Link converters. Advise needed.

I'm about to switch to Pro Tools HD 3 Accel system and I'll be getting an SSL XRack with 2 eight-channel and 2 four-channel summing modules for a total of 24 summing channels. Here is the question though. I'm thinking of buying an SSL Alpha Link 24 channel converter that will be connected to SSL Delta Link which is a MADI to Pro Tools converter box.
