can someone please help me with this lil issue...

first off, great site, I'm in awe of all this knowledge. my problem is that I'm trying to sample vinyl and I'm running my turntable through a super old school reciever that's connected to a usb compatible mixer. the mixer has two usb outputs plugged into my mac and ive just been using soundtrack as my recording software.

Would a pre-amp help my sound quality get better?

Right now I have a Behringer XENYX 802 mixer and an AKG Perception 100 large diaphragm condenser microphone and it's goin through my computer. I was wondering if I bought a preamp if it would boost my sound quality up any? I have good quality now BUT I was recording in a studio that was top notch equip.

Cheap Speakers (75-150w) ?

I'm looking for good cheap speakers that'll handle 75-150 watts well. I'm looking to use them for a small room as monitors or loudspeakers. I own a Crown CE 1000 so speakon in's would be great. Price range around 50-150 each. Also, I don't care if the case sucks, I can build new ones.

And I'm looking at the Kustom KPC 10M. Anyone know if its any good?

crunchy acoustic gtr

while listening to some radio songs that have acoustic gtr's in them with typical strummed chords i noticed the sound/tone was very crunchy and almost half muted of sorts(almost like an unplugged electric being strummed) and well found it very pleasing. in contrast MY acoustic gtr sounds very full and chimey like you would expect an acoustic to sound.
