"Ghetto" recording studio
Forums
I just decided to start recording my own jams at my house. I have a 0404 emu sound card. I also have a Behringer802 mixer. I go through a Behringerv-amp2 with my guitars/basses to get a good sound then into the mixer which goes into the sound card. I have an electric drum kit which goes into the mixer into the sound card, same for my mic.

Y Splitter Cable
Forums
I bought a Y cable splitter because before I would simply plugin a single guitar cable from my Behringer xenyx 802 into my pod xt live. There is a "L" and an "R" on the MAIN OUT for the xenyx 802 and I would just plug into the left channel and then record. Since I was only technically plugged into one channel I'd assume I was recording in mono.

Noticed in a lot of early Bob Dylan, Beatles recordings...
Forums
I noticed that they pan to the drums all the way to either left or right
Why did they do that?
Now the drums in todays modern recording are set right in the center besides cymbals and crashes etc..
Why is this?

Tips on recording notebook-player?
Forums
Hi all,
I'm a seasoned beginner recording enthousiast.
And I've already recorded several band: rock, jazz and choirs
Now I'm asked to record this trio which consists of bass, vocals and notebook. Their style is poppy alternative dance, think Moloko, Morcheeba.
I'm pretty sure the bass and vocals will come out fine, I know what to look for and all.

Recording songs by people who no longer exist
Forums
A good friend of mine passed away about 9 years ago, he was a true mentor for all my guitar playing. Before he died he had talked to me about doing a solo for a recording of his. That never happened. Last year I was listening to his old demo tapes and decided to remake that song and add the solo. I got part way though then put it on the backburner. Now i'm working on it again.

So I haven't been here in awhile but I am seeking help from you pro's yet again.
Obviously, any good studio has a couple of good DI boxes. But what if you DON'T have one. Not that I have a studio. But heres the situation.
