Any reason I should not buy an M-Audio FireWire Solo?

I think I am going to get the M-Audio FW Solo. I currently have a Tascam US-122. I'm looking to get the AD / DA inputs that the Tascam lacks. Is there any reason to avoid the FW solo? If so, why? and then, what do you recommend instead in the $200-300 range?

I'm using a 15" PowerBook with Tiger and only record Vocals and the occasional hardware synth or drum machine.

An observation. .

We see lots of new gear come out and shortly thereafter we see that same gear slightly used on ebay. There are certain items that have been well received here and after months are still not to be found on the bay. Any of you use that for an indicator of 'real world' acceptance of gear they are considering?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Christopher Hogwood - L'Oiseau Lyre

I am a big fan of his recordings and I own a good bunch of them (vinyl).

I was wondering if any of you had any idea about the precise setup they have used (Micing technique, mics, preamps, mixing desk, mastering) for these recordings. These are definetely not transparent recordings, but God I love how they sound.

Best,
Thomas

Firewire

Hey! I just put a Firewire PCI adaptor thing in my PC, it says in device manager OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller, and it is obviously not installed properly. I tried installing the driver automatically, but that never works anyway. I googled it, but it's really confusing, I don't know what I am looking at. Could you guys tell me how to get this thing up and running?
