What is the closest thing (new) to a Neve 1073?
Forums
All I hear about is how great this preamp was. I could never afford a real one, so I would like to know of a current manufacturer (and model) that makes a great clone. Thanks all.

what is this unit like? I't solder, is it up to the newer par?
I need such a device, but will my newer PreSonus converters match or better this older level of (used to be) more expensive converter?

daisy chaining MOTU 896HD
Forums
I asked this a few weeks ago with no answer:
Do you use multiple MOTU 896HD
if so - How many can you practically daisy chain?
Does anyone run a platform with 3 or 4 via a single firewire input on their computer? (i`m looking to run 24-32 track system)

Forums
is there a program i could use (similar to beat detective) where i can track a guitar performance and create a tempo map accordingly?
I`m recording a folk guitarist and i want to keep his variying tempo fluctuations. I have sequenced drums that i want to add to the guitar, but i want to make sure they are in sync.

Firebox vs. . Mbox: Help Me Choose!
Forums
I'm new to recording and need to buy some hardware and software. With basic research, I think I've narrowed my choices to the Firebox or the Mbox, but I don't think I know enough to make an informed choice. Any advice would be appreciated!

large mixer advice please
Forums
I am going to be recording many tracks of orchestras and bands (the type with clarinets) and I am wondering which 48 channel mixer is going to be the best. I have about 15k in the budget for it.
Looking for preamp/sound quality and overall quality and ease of use.

Preamps: This one or which one?
Forums
If you are gonna get the BIG DADDY of 'em all, which really stands as #1 in your book?
Lets talk single channel units...
The GT ViPre is a single channel "damn near do it all" design.
The Millennia STT-1 also a single channel design, is called the "All In One" recording system.

DI Bass
Forums
What combo of EQ / compression or other things are you guys using? Been trying to work up a bass sound for the first time in a while and going back to basics. The signal chain is a Carvin LB76 bass into a Brick feeding a RME Hammerfall 9632 and using Cubase as a platform.

New to Mac recording
Forums
So I'm looking to meet up with (online or in person) people to discuss some of the more technical sides of recording. Anyone in portland oregon, or feel like having a new E friend? I'm currently a MOTU user. I've used Pro Tools and digital performer, and prefer DP. I'm having a hard time finding a good selection of FX in the MAS format. Any suggestions?
