VU build from a old tape deck.
Hi! I pulled this nice set of VU meters from a old nakamichi tape deck. The deck powered up but I think the belt was shot. Any way I was going to build another set of VU's for a mate. I was stoked that I only had to unscrew two screws and the whole VU module popped out. I hooked up some power and the lamps fired up! Good start! I tried to get some 1kh test tone signal in from my 02R in to it.

Retro day
I was just listening to a bunch of Freddie Mercury live. Some with Pavarotti and some with Monserrat Caballe. These were live recordings and though there were minor imperfections, I had forgotten what true talent sounds like sans autotune or melodyne.

Smalltown Boy Reprise 2014
I've always loved this song. This latest version uses many microphones as seen in the video. The one Jimmy Somerville is singing into looks very old. I'd like to know what type it is.

Mid-range Audio Interface Option
I'm thinking of a couple of different methods for recording. To start, most of the recording will be location so I'm interested in portability. The recordings will be quiet source classical ensembles, with some jazz/blues/small rock clubs too.

Focusrite ISA One vs. PreSonus XMax
Hi Pal...
So, I'm thinking about maybe adding another preamp to my rig in the next month or two. As you probably already know, I'm currently using PreSonus XMax pres for the bulk of my recording.
I know that you have the Focusrite ISA 1.. and I know you like it.
If you don't mind, could you talk to me a bit more about this model?

On the Go MultiTrack Recorder for Android?
Anyone know of a good multitrack recorder for Android which you use? All I have is a basic idea recorder, single track, so I have to hum each part in a linear sequence. Makes it difficult to be creative when you listen to it that way so I'm looking for a good on the go four track or something so I can layer my ideas via humming/singing when I'm out and about.

Studio Monitor Selection - A Mistake!
I have been using pro audio gear for over 25 years. I made a big mistake. Based on in store listening and recommendations, I bought KRK Rokit 8 monitors. Based on daily use, I believe that these are very poor for mixing audio (range / poor sound quality). I should have done more homework There are many, many great options out there in the same price range.
