How much ram do you really need these days?
Forums
Hi. I just bought a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (socket 748) barebones and I wondered what is standard for ram these days.
My old system had 768 ram (3x256) but this computer needs ddr of course and is only 2 slots. Is 512 ok or 1 gb ? Are 1gb pieces cheap enough anywhere to grab one of them and have room to upgrade?

The Brick
Forums
I've read so much stuff from all the great guys here at RO about having good mic preamp's - and have seen so many people approving of 'the brick' that I was thinking about getting one.
I currently run a G4pbook 1.67GHz with a PreSonus Firepod -
was wondering how I would hook such a mic preamp up with my system - if it's possible?

Layout of home(your) studio
Forums
I'm currently planning to renovate a commercial place into a recording studio. Can someone who owns a studio provide me a picture layout of the studio?
The control room, drum booth, vocal booth...so on!
I'm highly appreciated :D

I just realized why my mixes sound funky!
Forums
Bear with me hear.
On my last session I used the Brick on kick drum, acoustic guitar, bass, and vocals, and everything other than those tracks sound almost irritating, thin, and hollow! I went back to my older sessions with the Brick and noticed the same thing. .everything that didn't go through the Brick sounds hollow.

ISA 428 users.
Forums
Hey guys,
A buddy that works at a nameless gear store can get me a new ISA428 for $1500 out the door. My question is...is this a "pro" preamp? Is it in the same class as the API, Great River, John Hardy...etc preamps?

New Demos Posted
Forums
Hi guys.
In case anyone is interested, I do have a few new demos posted to my site. They are MP3 (Unfortunately) but high bit rate. They still sound uber-brittle to me in this format though. Comments are welcome.
The new demos are located between the horizontal lines.

Second classical concert recording
Forums
Here's another one, this time solo piano. The file can be found here.
I used a pair of Neumann KM-183, 8" apart, 7' high, and the stand was 2' from the point where the body starts to curve. The piano was on full stick.
