We just recorded an outdoor band concert. It was something we do on a yearly basis. I get one shot at doing the concert with no rehearsals and no retakes. This year's concert came off very well except that they "added" some vocalist to the program. They did this without letting us know about it in advance.

I trie to deside what A/D D/A converter to buy.

The Terratec Phase 88 seems more atractive than the M-audio converter, and it has two mic preamp-amps in it to. But the M-Audio converter is Pro Tools compatible!

Well I have been recording for 3 months now and am ready to commit. I have an Apple Imac G5 (1gig ram, 1.6 proccesor), Firebox, Small Behringer Mixer, and a MXL 990 Condensor Mic.

i get a lot of inquiries on this subject. questions like "I would like a fatter tape sound. I would like to bounce my finished mixes to tape before mastering". While i'm a big fan of tape and the way it sounds, there is a point I feel that is missing. When i was a mixer mixing to tape, I used to spend hours compensating for what the tape did.

I have to admit that when this forum started, I expected to find a lot of people using GML preamps, but that hasn't been the case.
I'd like some, but after my most recent splurges, I won't be getting them any time soon.

Anyone have any thoughts on these?

Just like to say that I considered building (or buying) just such a cabinet (like the one in Kurt's fine review) until I realised how easy it actually is to relocate your computer outside of the studio room.

hello! i wanna control my 8 subgroups with faders and my FX-Sends with potis via Midicontroller. i think the Behringer B-CONTROL FADER BCF2000 seems to be ok for the price. but now somebody in a musicstore told me this unit is totally sh*t.

hm, what do u think? does anybody work with it or does anybody know if there are really big configuration problems etc.?
