Shure KSM44 - would ya?
Forums
now i got turned onto the Shure KSM44 as being an amazing mic for a decent price. Anyone used these, and what are your thoughts. I really was leaning toward the one-trick-pony tube RODE NTK for my Grace 101's, to match tube with SS...
oh, woe is me! what mic to buy. .

Frontier Design Tango24 vs Tascam DA-88 D/A Conversion
Forums
I recently purchased what was supposed to be a Frontier Designs Tango24 8-channel D/A and A/D converter. What I received was a 20-bit Tango (no 24). I sent it back and should be getting a refund soon.
16bit to 24bit conversion
Forums
If I'm exporting files from Cubase at 24 bit and they were recorded at 16 bit, am i doing damage to the file?
The reason being I have some files at 24 bit and some files at 16 bit and would prefer to master at 24 bit obviously.
As you can see I'm somewhat of a beginner so take it easy please

dbx 150 with a DAW ?
Forums
Hi!
I'm willing to buy 3x Alesis AI-3 converters to connect to a creamware card. This would give me 24 in / 24 out, so I could use the computer as a recorder and mix out of the box.
The AI-3 has a 98 dB dynamic range, which is not the best you can have with a converter... I'm used to RME with its 117 db...

Digidesign Le Rack: Does it work well with outboard gear?
Forums
I'm thinking about purchasing Digidesign's LE rack. I have a bunch of outboard gear (ie EQ, Compression, etc). I've looked on the back for aux in's and didn't notice any. Does it work well with outboard analog gear.
HEDD + G5 spdif
Forums
Hey boys,
Love this forum, despite the fact I'm more a musician than an engineer. Only been reading a week or so, but is it just us guys, or are there any women on the forum?
Anywho, I'm looking at the HEDD 192. Can I S/PDIF it into my g5 through the g5's stock spdif-in for stereo tracking into Logic, or would I need to get one of these AES interface cards?

In search of really great crunch
Forums
...in a 1970's Marshall JMP head. I've heard that these amps get a really great, warm, saturated, tubey/crunchy tone. However, I don't know what the difference between all the years are, and unfortunately there aren't any in stores around town that I can play. People I know have said point to point 78's or 79's are great. The '78 fawn color looks very cool...
