Anyone have experiences with the Ashly 508 mixer for location classical work? I like the feature set ... not too many bells/whistles, and 2-space rack mountability is very attractive. But of course, sound and quality of the pream section are what I'm looking for.

Hello All, First everyone can sleep at night again :D think i have figured out the Proteus X, sounding great! My only snag now is that since installing new card (Emu 0404) & Proteus X i cannot record in Audition. It plays fine so looks like sound card ok, checked the I/P connections etc.

Hi guys, Im just about to buy a stereo ad/da soundcard, but I'm going crazy trying to figure out which one.

My goal is to just record vox and guitar or keyboard. So I only need two channels. But I want those to channels to be "pretty darn good" as FMR Audio would put it.

I have a 7 piece Ska band coming in and I've never recorded brass instruments before. Let me know out of the following mic list what should be used. Any tips on mic placement?

Hey I have a particular artist that I record (rap) that has a deeper voice with a lip smacking problem. My setup includes a Focusrite platinum pro preamp with a Blue Baby Bottle mic, we have a standard black nylon wind filter on the mic and have not had problems with plosives just lip smacks. Is there some particular mic placement strategies I can implement to reduce this?

i've been recording on an analog 4-track and mixing down (through the line in) to my PC. i've noticed that while i'm working on the track (i use adobe audition) it plays at decent levels, yet when i save it as a wave file and play it back in another software player the volume is noticeably lower.

Having been a gear whore for 30 years in a home studio enviornment and a professional singer songwriter For the benefit of those who like myself in the early days strggled to keep up with the latest audio fashions, I had to ask the question.

I write and record original moderate rock music and want to know which MTOOLKIT works best for others? Do you have to use a tool kit to get a stereoed mastered CD? :? Sometimes I feel like my songs sounded better before I mastered them using the MTOOLKIT. :(
