Analyzing PC noise
Forums
Hey folks...I'm picking up some fan noise from my PC tower when I'm recording VO stuff. When I fire up Sound Forge 7 to start recording, the ambient noise never goes above -55db on the VU meter...

Guitar Cable/Power Cable
Forums
Hi!
What's the major difference between a guitar cable and a power cable(that runs the power signal from the amp to the speakers)?
The impedance? What should be to both?
Keep on,

Forums
I am interested in expanding my home studio. Right now I am using a dell isperion 1100 notebook that is a little over a year old. I am recording on to adobe auditon 1.5 using a generic computer mic. This has worked for my acoustic recordings, but now I am in a reggae band and want to expand the sound and the load of insterments I can record at a time.

Headphones as reference monitors?
Forums
This comes out of the "Importance of great monitors" discussion:
One guy's opinion was that:
"The discussion happening here seems to largely consist of people talking at cross-purposes. Surely there are two types of 'monitor'.
1. A reference monitor for giving you maximum info on mic placement, source quality etc.
