BR-1600 & computer setup ?

I have a Boss BR-1600 and want to incorporate my computer in the setup for MIDI, sequencing, editing & mixing.I know the capabilities of what is onboard the BR-1600, but would like to practice performing some of the mentioned tasks in a different environment.I have an old 800mhz celeron.What recomendations does the group have for the software to get.I have a copy of Qbase VST.

Setting up a home studio

I am interested in expanding my home studio. Right now I am using a dell isperion 1100 notebook that is a little over a year old. I am recording on to adobe auditon 1.5 using a generic computer mic. This has worked for my acoustic recordings, but now I am in a reggae band and want to expand the sound and the load of insterments I can record at a time.

Headphones as reference monitors?

1. A reference monitor for giving you maximum info on mic placement, source quality etc.
