Has anyone tried doing an X-Y configuration in front and an over the shoulder mic on acoustic guitar?

I know its common to use the X-Y and I know some people use the over the should and one mic in front but has anyone used this combination with good results? Im just curios.

I have a session thursday and I'm thinking about trying this.

Dear experts,

I have anoying problem with my FA-101 FireWire box and IBM X31 Laptop PC. First 15-30 minutes everything works smoothly but after awhile pops, clicks and silent periods start occure. As the time goes on the situation gets worse, ending up to dead audio interface = no sound in nor out. Complete boot for the IBM is only medicine I have figured out so far.

I've recently added the ADAT "Option 1" card to my OctoPre and changed the Hardware Setup dialog in PT to reflect ADAT as the master clock, instead of Internal.

Latency is getting to the point where it's audible.. like a chorus or flange
Tested with microphone and line ins.

Hi, this is my first post on these forums ans I was wondering if anyone out there can help me

After bouncing a file out of PT I tried playing it back through WinAmp, iTunes and Encore. Through any source besides Pro Tools, the sounds is played back fast. I've tried different sample rats and formats, but after it's bounced, it always plays back fast.

Any suggestions?

I just returned the PowerCore firewire to my dealer. My computer is setup correctly and had all the necessary horsepower to run the plugins. And I installed an Adaptec Firewire card to be used only for this unit.

Bassically I want to record guitar and vocals.

I have:

A computer with N-Tracks.
Audiophile 2496 Soundcard.
Alto S8 8 channel mixer.
I also have and RCA lead(which has 2 intputs(sorry about the vagueness) ) .
Other leads, mics and guitar etc.

Balanced for 1/4'' TRS. I think I would run most of my outboard gear non-normalled. Since I use a Digidesign 002 with limited INS and OUTS, I am going to be doing a fair amount of patching, but nothing too extreme. Nothing more than 48 ins. Now, is there a sound difference between $100 1/4" TRS patchbays and $500 1/4'' TRS patchbays? Or is it mostly durability? My budget is about $500.
