Last night I recorded a song for one of my friends. He raps, but it's NOT gangsta rap, so please be open minded to listening. I've only done a premix and was hoping if i can have some suggestions. I used a little hardware compression coming in, haven't used any software compression yet. I don't think it needs to be, but let me know if you think it does.

Hey all, this is my first post and I have an important question. I have Pro Tools LE 6.7 w/ Mbox on a mac. I am wondering if there is any way to create a bass line or other musical parts (guitar, violin etc) in Reason (came with it Adapted for PT) or Live (also adapted). I have only figured out how to use the drum machine in Reason.

has anybody had a chance to play with a chandler tg2 two channel pre? they are nicely priced but reviews are scant on the ground...anyone with some hands-on experience?

I have seen a lot of recent posts about people looking to the MacMini for audio production.

Does anyone realize that it comes with 256 mb of ram, and has to be upgraded by Apple to add more, which they charge a premium for?

Once you add everything to make the mac mini anything of a decent computer, you are well over $1000.

I went to Sam Ash yesterday and was told that if I want to use 2 MOTU travelers to hook up 18 channels and control them through one computer that I would need to make one of the Travelers a slave and one a master and connect them through Firewire. But he said that it would cause latency which I didn't understand why that would be the case.

Just wondering what this mic is like. Is it any good?

Allright lets say this is what I have for gear

I don't want to build a PC and I can't afford a Mac. well I can afford a mini Mac, but that won't allow me to use my UAD-1 or run dual monitors. Anyway, is there a decent PC manufacturer out there that won't charge out the butt? I'd buy a Dell, but I don't want to get stuck with another VIA chipest. I don' t know what type of motherboards they use.

Anyway...what do you advise?

i write and record music in my parents house in a small room. not exactly sure how big it is, or the dimensions, but it's small. let me give you a run down of my cheap recording set up:

Has anyone tried the HM-1 on toms. I record mainly blues and rock and the D2's are fine for rock but are not what I'm looking for with blues. I'm looking for a rounder more natural tone (almost jazz like)for blues and the HM-1's sound like they would fit the bill.
