Hello all. I just foudn this site while researching my options for building a new DAW.

Just a little background.
Started with music doing the ACID route 6 years ago.
Picked up Reason about two years ago.
Have been playing around with VST's etc for the past few months.
I have decided to get serious with my music so I am looking at where to goto next.

I am currently operating on Windows XP Home; AMD Athlon XP 2200 1.8G Processor 512M Ram and currently have a crappy Aureal Vortex 1500.

I am recording with Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 XL. Mainly recording pop and dance music.

I want to upgrade to a midrange pro audio sound card and most likely the processor too.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

When using Pro Tools with an mbox, you can't record more than 2 tracks at a time and when recording bands live this is a problem. However I was thinking that I could simply get a 16-32 track mixer and record the band live analog and then record each track soloed into Pro Tools. However I'm not completely sure how analog recording works.

Hello, I have been searching high and low for a fix to my problem, I JUST bought this mobilepre preamp, and am now struggling to get it to even detect in windows XP, I try to open the control panel and it doesnt work at all, it says it cant find the device I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, restarted the computer and all tha jazz.

hey guys., i just bought this firewire 410 and i have no idea how to use it. i installed the drivers.. plugged it in... and now i want to record. I'm trying to record my guitar. I'm familiar with recording using the mic input on my computer. but never through a device like this.

I have a small home studio. I use pc pro tools le, and a digirack 002. I have a Blue baby bottle mic, and a Yamaha 500 keyboard. I am having a problem making things sound professional, and I was wondering if I may need to send my music out to be mastered.? My computer is new, and I built it myself. I hope someone can help.

Anyone have any experience with this (the recording version)? I know Earthworks makes some sweet mics, but only 3 mics to record a great drum kit? Sounds a little strange.

Sorry for all the acronyms in the subject. I have recently had a bad monitor buying experience and am interested in what you guys use or prefer for those long nights editing.

I needed to get a new monitor for my editing console as my fine old Hitachi 19" CRT finally failed.

Is there a site that has reviews or at least comparisons of the features of some of the Digital Audio Workstations? To me make a knowlegeable selection?
