I'm looking for a couple of powered monitors in the $250 price area. Initially, I was looking at the m-audio dx5 and I wanted to hear other thoughts.
Unfortunately, I'm using to working on tannoy reveals, so I assume there will be a noticable difference, but I'm not ready to spend $500+ at the moment.

Does the O2R96 have a key input for the compressor ? my old O2R had one and I can't seem to find it on the O2R96 (about to buy one tomorrow).

I know it has one for gates.

I want to put my little studio on the map this Spring. I have a done a few small projects with smaller, local bands & was disappointed in the lack of trust that the bands showed me. I know that I cannot whip out the 48-track Neve console and the 500' room and have them all get weak at the knees. I wish I could.

Just checking to see if anyone knew about any books on making preamps from scratch. I have never messed with electronics at all, but I think it would be a good learning experience. In addition, it seems that it would be pretty cool to have something that you made yourself that can actually be used to record with.

I'm just stepping into the realm of digital recording...so it's great to find a resource like this--great work!

I am planning on purchasing an Mbox with Pro Tools Le, and would like any input on whether my current computer will work well with it. As far as I could see, it meets all the specs necessary...but would appreciate any further input or suggestions. Here is what I've got:

I am using Acid 5.0. I am currently recording direct in using a V-Amp. Do I need to keep using the v-amp, or just go dry in and add effects after it is in. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

hey any ideas? what is the best software to use to record to a pc.

My only weak link left in my studio is my DDA-console which is not bad but not compareable to high-end consoles either. The rest of my gear is up there. I use my studio only for my own productions and I've made the recording chain a priority 'coz i mix in larger facilities.
