hello !

Im totally new to midi and I have a little dilemma I have a bass drum track recorded from a live session as a .wav which is spot on for timing, but sound-wise its not great.

I currently own a Marshall AVT150/AVT4x12 and Fender customized Strat. I'm looking into buying a Mesa Rectifier half-stack for myself to play, and also to furnish my studio. I do however have a question. Im hoping to fill the gap in my knowledge of things here. I am almost positive that the Triple Rec(150W) head is overkill and pretty much a waste of the extra $$.

what is a good below $350 Pre-amp? Also anybody have strong opinions on the RODE K2?

Anyone have any luck chaining 2 Firepods? So far I can't seem to pull it off. I received the BETA 1.20 drivers from PreSonus that are supposed to enable this, but, while it works fine for about 10 minutes, it then crashes and no audio whatsoever. I am running an AMD Athlon 2500+ System with Windows XP.

Okay, different scenario here. Do any of you find that rather decent orchestras or ensembles wind up playing where they can and one of the large determining factors of that is the almighty dollar?

How good of a bass do I need to record with? I'm doing digital multitrack home studio recording. I'll plan on recording the base direct (no amp or mic). I'm aware a decent pre-amp and compressor with help.

have you used them? how do they compare to what else is out there? worth the money?

here's the skinny fellas - i'm about to graduate with a bachelor of music with a concentration in music recording technology and am currently interning in harrisburg, pa for my last semester. obviously coming out of a 4 year program i have basically no money in the bank.

I was wondering, as an engineer of about 5 years with a pretty nice home studio (live room, iso booth, and control room built to pro standards and a good amount of high-end gear), what is a good hourly rate for tracking. I'm obviously not running a gi-normous, fully-equipped, pro studio, but I do think I do good work.
