I have the Mackie Control interface and I'm using it with Pro Tools 6.4. When I open my first track, the mixer dialogue reads everything correctly, but the dialogue won't update for any other sessions and tracks after that. Randomly, it might update but not because of anything I do (except restart and power cycle).

AT this point being unemployed and all. I've been looking for budget tube pre that doesn't suck. A lot of you that have this unit have been saying northing but good things about it. So I think I'll get one. My question is a simple one. are the outputs 1/4 inch or XLR? Also. does this unit have definition to what you record? Can you hear depth? My current pres sound dead as a door nail.

I'm looking for someone familiar with the Tascam 2488 recorder. I am trying to assign the multi-effect to more than 1 input. When doing so, the first assigned multi-effect is muted. The recorder only lets me assign 1 input/channel only. How can I save the multi-effect to use on multiple channels? I am using the guitar effects when trying this.

I plan on buying a Studio Projects 828. If I sent a stereo signal out of my sound card Ch1/2 into the 828 line in Ch1, would the 828 play it as a stereo signal?

I have change my mind on using a control surface after reading posts on this board. I play fingerstyle acoustic guitar with a two channels dual preamp good mics and monitors for my use. I don't need a lot of imputs. Occasionally I will add synthesizer direct or use midi to the mix. I have a dell 2350 p4 1.8 gig, 768 memory with usb and firewire ports.

Sorry to bring up the tired soundcard discussion. But... see I stopped building a studio, but now I have time and cashflow to build up again.

First thing I need though is a new soundcard.

My plan is to make beats for r&b, rap type music, and maybe even record a rock group. I don't know. I'll definitely record vocals, and use midi.

I am looking for an A/B switcher that will allow me to use various sources and monitors. Two of the units that are in my price range are the PreSonus Central Station and the Mackie Big Knob. It would be great to hear some opinions on these units. Here are some of my concerns and maybe you guys can debunk them.
