I'm building a new daw and went to the asus website to see thier line up of prescot boards, i was amazed by the number of them, many with the same name, p4p800 for example has many difrant chipsets. and so to my question which prescot chipset is best suited for audio recording?

I'm about to buy a new system for recording (my P3 450 is dying out) and I'm really split on what to get.

I've heard mac is more simple to use (which I love the sound of) but it also means getting used to a whole new computer setup (I've been using PCs all my life)

Is there really a huge difference between the two?

OK, now its down to 2 consoles as I decided against getting a digital board.

If any of you have any of these 2 mixers please let me know any comments you may have however trivial you may think it is.

Now for the good stuff.

I just bought a Studer A800 2" 24 track machine that I have to go pick up in a month! Please anybody tell me anything I should know about this machine, and what your thoughts on it are! Thanks!

Any suggestions how I can beef this up?
It's a blues number and I need some help on this one.

I'm looking to upgrade my system soon. I've got 16 channels of instrument/mic sources, an 8-track DAW interface and four 2-track recording devices (Otari MX5050-BII, DV interface, VCR and cassette) I want to be able to plug all those into one place and pretty much never have to rewire anything.

Alright tekkies and computer nerds! (I'm one myself, but in trouble on this one.)

I have a drive that has been connected to a Mac, files written to it, etc. Now, all of a sudden, it's in Windows_32_fat format and the Mac won't see it as a valid drive. How do I get the files off of it, or return the format to it's previous state?
