fatten up a metal guitar
Forums
Does anyone any EQ settings to fatten up a metal guitar sound? I'm looking for that really meaty palm-muted Messugah style sound. I realise that its mostly down to the guitar and amp.
I'm using the simulanalog guitar plugins and to me they sound pretty good. I use the Tube Screamer in front of JCM900. I turn the mids up and not scoop them and it's quite a decent fat tone.

External Hard Drives
Forums
I would just like to know everyone's thoughts on external hard drives. Which ones have you used? how well have they have operated? how well have they NOT operated? etc... I would appreciate any advice at all in this department because it's new to me and i know very little. I am looking at the LaCie 250GB, Firewire 800, 7200rpm, 8MB buffer. I appreciate it and take care.

Looking for a digital multitracker
Forums
I currently have a little ghetto setup at my house (US-122 with a Sm-57 and SP B-1). I'm looking for a cheap digital 4 or 8 track recorder to use when we play at my buddy's place. I don't want any frills at all. I don't need modelling, effects, or any of that other stuff. I'm looking for something that has a trim pot, and volume slider, and the inputs.

Review site for homebrew recordings
Forums
Just wanted to gently plug http://www.lovelabormusic.com. This guy's uniquely reviewing homebrew recordings from unsigned musicians, and I guess he's just starting out. Seems that if you send him your disk, he'll actually listen to it, which is something for sure.
Cheers.

Drum Sampler Help (Battery)
Forums
Hey guys,
Thanks a lot for the advice on recording programs and such earlier. I'm looking at getting Drumkit from Hell now and using a sampler with it for my drums. However, I've never used a sampler before, so I thought I'd get a demo version of one to try out and get a feel for one before buying it.

Anyone know recording details about Damien Rice?
Forums
I hope I've got the right place (don't want to post in the wrong area). I'm a massive fan of Rice's work and write some pretty similar stuff. I know he used a mobile DAW, but I'm not sure what signal chains etc he used. Incidently, if anyone knows a way to get the fab guitar and vocal sounds he achieved, I'd love to know. Sorry to take up your time. Thanks
Accessing audio files on the computer
Forums
Hello,
I wonder if it is possible to access the audio files created on the
Zoom MRS1266 on a computer? I know about the software which can be
downloaded from zoom.co.jp, but as far as I know, it only works when
the Zoom is connected to the usb jack. The problem is that the unit
I rented didn't had any usb...

New to the Recording World
Forums
Hey everyone i am a 16 year old from Ohio and me and my band recently recorded our first album using N-Track Studio. We are pleased with the result, but we know it could be better. Do you have any tips for a beginner on basic good recording? Things like mic posistions, inexpensive gear, tracks, all that stuff is helpful. Thanks!

Soundcraft Delta 200 vs Tascam DM24 w Firewire card
Forums
I am having trouble deciding whether to get an analog console or a digital one such as the DM24.
I'll be recording to a DAW on a PC or Mac.
I like the immediacy of the analog console but with a Digital one such as DM24 (actually only one currently) I can do without external AD/DA and go direct into computer.
