This is a question relating back a couple of weeks to the "future of the recording business" thread.

OK, here goes...

I use (like everybody) an extra hall for Snare, extra for Toms and extra for the kick. Would you suggest another one for the whole set?
It sounds strange when youcan hear a Hall on the snare, toms, kick and the O.Hs and hi-hat is "dry".

I’m just beginning, so excuse my ignorance?

I have been getting this distortion/clicks n pops/static in my recordings for a while. Even just recording a single track it happens. It goes off and on so I'm almost positive it's on the computer/software end. I have a clip link listed below, can someone check it out? Someone with more experience can probably pin it right down.

Check out the kick drums.

Do you think they have the other ends propped up with a chair?
Would this just cut down on bleed or does this actually affect the tone?

What are the basic things that can be done to improve the stereo mix? I know that you will be tempted to say things like "depends on what kind of music you are recording, the type of sound you want. " Those are all valid points, but I want to know what things you would do on almost any mix to beef it up. This could be put in the mastering section, but I wanted to ask it here.

I have some questions about the Zoom MRS 1266.

I will use an external Behringer MX2642A console to add some EQ on the sorce before getting them "on track". But the EQ is just three band with variable mid.

So I was looking at this really yummy pre-loved Neotek Elite for around $16k, checking my bank balance,...then making some credit enquiries lol, envisioning the freak-out session that would happen when my woman finds out what I've just bought for $16k...when I really got serious, I started *thinking*. .

I'm trying to get that evanescence/linkin park vocal reverb . which one would be better eventide or Yamaha spx 990
