Vintech X73 vs X73i?
Forums
Okay, so Vintech claims that the X73 and the X73i are sonically the same but with a $400 difference in pricetags is that possible?
Has anybody ever heard them side by side?
Thanks!
Ryan

accessing PC hard drive with a Mac OS X
Forums
A client will bring in a session recorded on a Mackie HD recorder and we would like to edit and mix the stuff on my PT|HD rig running on a Mac G4 OS X. (all the tracks have been 'consolidated'.)
My plan is to just take the drive out of the SCSII enclosure and connect it to my Mac or insert it into a Firewire enclosure.

CD burning
Forums
this might be a really stupid question, but it does come from a quandary I've always had: what's the point of recording audio in a higher quality than 16b, 44hz if I'm trying to then burn the music (let's suppose I'm making an album) into a CD? It's obvious that the recording quality will definitely be great, but won't I have to "lower" or modify it later so as to burn it to the Cd?

S/PDIF Interface
Forums
My question pertains to the S/PDIF digital interface, as used in my Aardvark Q10 sound cards.
Q: Is this a straight-through digital interface, digital source-thru Q10-to computer?

Compact mixer options other than Mackie
Forums
Hi guys.
I'm thinking about grabbing a Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro.
I'd like some other options.
Basically what I'm looking for is something that will get me by until I buy a "real" preamp.
What other options are there in the same price/quality as the Mackies with 6-8 XLR/Preamp with Phantom.

unbalanced -> balanced
Forums
Hopefully this doesn't irrevocabley damage my reputation but please help:
Can't I use a balnced cable(trs) to carry an unbalanced signal?
And why can't I use a unbalanced cable on a balanced (TRS jack) output.
I have a phono patchbay and I'm curious how routing signals will be affected.
Thanks so much!

Gregg Labs Tri-band Amplifiers
Forums
Hey there, I bought an Ampex MM 1100 a few years back, and the guy said it came with two racks of noise reduction. Actually what it came with were two 4-rackspace each Gregg Labs Tri-Band Amplifiers.
