Temperatures effect on Mackie D8B

Hey all. The d8b/Mac g5 at the studio glitched out on me the other night during a session by freezing up and making a continuous stuttering sound. I know they are old, but the board seems to freak out a few times a year, by not starting up correctly (fader 16 moves slightly and quickly from the bottom making the chattering sound) causing me to have to restart it multiple times.

Sears reel to reel: Model 6249 Changed belts, spring attachment?

Taking a gamble on anyone who may have this model. Changed the belts, did not pay attention to how the spring attached or what it was for, even have the pict diagram to the parts, but does not show how the spring attaches. You would think
I could solve it with only a couple choices, but tried every which way, cannot make sense of it.

Transferring pt files from 32bit system to 64 bit pt system questions

My cousin recently got a new system, the old is a dual core "sweet water creation station" the new is just a Mac Pro quad, and UA Apollo quad.

The question is mainly about bit rate and if the raw audio files would just transfer, or if there's a process. I know so little about CPU stuff that I'm unsure about how os/daw system bit rate effects older files.

Are Studio Monitors Different From Live Monitors?

I just purchased the JBL SLR305, and I was wondering if it is okay to use them as (somewhat loud) monitors for live singing?

Would they get damaged from the volume? Should I purchase a live monitor to be on the safe side?

Sorry if the question seems "dull", but this is the first time I am really using monitors

Thanks in advance

Is it possible to use the H4N to listen to a karaoke song while recording voice?

Hello all, I recently bought the H4N and I'm more than happy with it. It's just great but I have a doubt. I would like to record some songs (karaoke versions) but I can't find a way to play the song in the H4N while using headphones so the mic doesn't pic up the song, and, at the same time, record my voice on a different track.
