ALTEC 1592A MIXER FOR PRE
I have an option to by one of these for really cheap. I was wondering if anyone has used them or something similar as mic preamps. I noticed they don't have any XLR or 1/4 outs. How did you solve this problem.

audio electronics book recommendations for beginner?
Hi, I have a little home studio and am finding that I am fascinated with analog recording gear, I want to get into the electronics of it more but I'm really not sure what books to get. I need something for beginners, that addresses how to read schematics and hopefully has some simple projects.
Event EZ Bus - Good or Bad? Should I bother?
Oh well, I got a chance to get an Event EZ Bus fairly cheap right now and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them - A/D D/A converters good or bad, any particular problems, etc. I'd really appreciate any comments anyone might have on it.

Voice-over/Spoken Word Suggestions?
I do spoken word and voice-over work. I am learning how to do the recording aspects myself with a small project studio at home. I am very interested in what everyone with experience in that area thinks about:
1. microphone selection (is the Sennheiser 416 the one?)
2. microphone placement
3. EQ, Compression, etc while tracking... opinions.

Which IDE controller for Intel 850EMV2?
Hi. I'm presently using the standard Microsoft XP Pro drivers to control my hard drives.
I've heard tell there may be better options.
Anyone have any experience with the Intel Application Accelerator drivers? Intel makes some strong claims for these drivers; the company seems like it's on a roll with its mobos and processors so they could well be true.

p4pe Bios Nightmare - someone please!
Dear All,
I am having a problem booting up my Asus P4pe beta bios probably once in every three times, monitor does not start, and when I reset I get taken straight to the bios and it says that system hung on last boot up due to incorrect CPU setting. The thing is, I am running the whole thing in normal mode with no overclocking.
Can someone let me know what this might be?

Can I mix 256MB ea. of PC2100 and 2700?
I have a 256 SAMSUNG PC2700 in my machine.
I saw that BBuy has 256 Crucial PC2100 for $25.
Running P4 1.6a at 2.1 (or so I recall...)
Any solutions? I just need more RAM and this seemed to jump into my lap.
Thanks.
