older MOTU 2408--should I for $150?
A guy I know is selling one for $150. This is the original one, and *not* the markII or markIII.
Is it totally outdated? Will the A/D conversion be better than that of my Roland VS 880 -EX? That would be its primary use--going into my Mac.
Anyone, please feel free to chime in.
Thanks-

To Bill: Main differences between Bass reflex and Closed
Hi!
I would like to know the main advantages and disadvantages of each design. I have heard the old popular legends that closed cabinets need much more power and that rear ports help eliminate standing waves.
I know all this might be BS. So nothing better than have the right Pro guy explain us a little bit of this.
Studio kit
I'm thinking of buying a drum kit to use in my home studio instead of the RX21 I'm currently employing and would like some recommendations. I can't budget for more than £600 right now, so keep that in mind. Thanks
:)

Maximum USB length
I am running a projector from a laptop and the distance is 50 feet from the laptop rack to the ceiling mounted video projector. SVGA and USB are required to do what I require to the projector from the laptop (Toshiba)

Monitors (again) - a bit pricier
I'm shopping for new nearfields (finally replacing NS-10s) for my studio. I'm looking in the "around $1,000 - up - to - $1500 - maybe" range. I went to 2 stores today and listened. I heard the Mackie 624s and 824s, the Genelec 1030s and 1029s, Tannoy Reveals, Event TR5s, and a few others.

UAD-1 Version 3.0 Release
Univeral Audio (and Mackie!) have released version 3.0 of their Powered Plug-ins. Support for multiple cards, the new Oxford EQ (demo only until you pay!), and other features.
I have not installed yet (I'm gonna wait a week or 2 to be safe!), but you can get it here:

home recording help
I am primarily a musician, with very little recording experience. I need some general help. My band members and myself have recently bought some rec. equipment, and I want to know the amount of quality I can expect. We just bought a Fostex Vf-160, a Nady drum mic kit, 2 sm 57's, a 58, and a Shure bg 4.1. Another question, the vf-160 records 8 tracks simultaneously out of the box.
