Not too sure if this post belongs here, but I just thought of something that always gives me trouble when trying to help folks out.

I recently did a couple of live sound gigs for a local band who has decided to bring in a friend of theirs to do sound. They've asked me to come give him a few pointers, as he's being trained "from the ground up." (sounds like a recipe for disaster)

This is my first time posting on this forum, and I've got some questions about upgrading my crappy old PIII-733 DAW - basically, what would you recommend? I'm after a CPU, mainboard, and RAM to go along with my Delta 66 and vidcard.

I have a couple of decent comps (RNCs, Ashly CL50, 1066) but they only add up to 4 individual channels of compression (yes I know the RNCs are stereo, but they're not dual mono :( ).

i am looking for a good, inexpensive mixer to go with my echo mia2496. i only need a few inputs, i intend to record tracks one at a time then mix with MIDI. is soundcraft a good choice? can you recommend a unit? thanks

Here's an interesting one. I've got two HTFS (mac) formatted firewire drives that work fine on a mac. I have an Adaptec firewire card in a PC that works fine with a video camera and a MOTU 828 (used those two just for testing). The drives are completely unrecognized as existing by my Adaptec/PC setup. Not there, not in disk management, etc.

I have a thread going over in the "Mastering" forum that includes some discussions on the BBE Sonic Maiximizer. It was interesting to hear some of the comments that came from the mastering specialists over there.

For the past few months, I've been trying to get my MOTU 24i core system (with a pci-324 card) to work with my Pentium 4 system with an Asus p4b266-c motherboard and DDR ram.

This is a topic that's long-overdue...
There's a lot of new technology that's out, or just about to be out, and it needs to be clarified.

Netscape 7 is out, anyoine using yet? I tried to download it after I read that is was having problems downloading and ya, it shut down on me after an hour of downloading, :mad:

Hope it's nices than 6, I never even bothered with that hog, however, I do prefer it ove IE
